The European Union – Morocco relationship tackles common challenges such as economic development, innovation, climate change, justice, security, mobility, migration and good governance. The partnership is legally based on the Association Agreement, which entered into force in 2000. With the launch of the European Neighbourhood Policy in 2004, which has been reviewed in 2015, Morocco gradually became a privileged partner of the EU in the field of political and economic cooperation as well as trade, technical and development cooperation.
